Campfire Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Campfire is a routine and activity app for families. It asks for a child's name and, if you want it, their photograph. So the short version matters more than the long one:

Everything you put into Campfire stays on your device. There is no account, there is no server, and nothing is ever uploaded.

The rest of this page explains that in more detail.

What Campfire stores

All of it is entered by you, the parent, and all of it is stored on the device you are using:

  • Your child's first name. The app only ever asks for a first name, and it uses it to speak to your child by name.
  • Your child's age.
  • The character they chose — a bear, fox, owl or toad.
  • Routine progress — which morning and bedtime steps are done, sparks earned, streaks, and badges.
  • Activity history — which of the 46 together-time activities you have marked as favourites, which you have planned, and which you have finished.
  • Scrapbook memories — a title, a note you typed, a date, and a rating.
  • Rewards — the treats you have set up, their cost in sparks, and which redemptions you still owe your child.
  • Photographs, if you choose to add them.

If you add more than one child, this is stored per child.

Where it is stored

In your device's local browser storage, under keys beginning campfire. — one key for your family's data, one for where you were in the app, and one for each photograph.

That storage belongs to the app on your device. It is not a cloud account, it is not synced, and it is not backed up anywhere by us. If you have a passcode or Face ID set on your device, the storage is covered by your device's own protections along with everything else on it.

Photographs

Photographs need to be said plainly, because they are pictures of a child.

  • A photograph is only ever added when you choose to add one. The app opens your device's camera or photo picker; you choose the picture.
  • Once chosen, it is shrunk on your device to at most 720 pixels along its longest edge and saved into local storage.
  • It is never uploaded, never sent anywhere, and never shown to anyone but whoever is holding your device.
  • The app keeps the 60 most recent photographs. Beyond that, older ones are dropped to protect your device's storage.
  • When you delete a memory, its photograph is deleted with it, immediately and permanently.

What Campfire does not do

This is not a list of promises about our conduct. These things are simply not built into the app:

  • There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing identifies you to us.
  • There is no server. The app does not send or receive any data over the internet while you use it.
  • There is no analytics — no usage tracking, no crash reporting, no session recording, no unique identifiers.
  • There is no advertising of any kind, and no advertising identifiers.
  • There are no trackers, no social logins and no advertising SDKs. The app is built on Capacitor and uses two of its plugins — Camera and Local Notifications — to reach the phone's camera and to show your reminders. Both run entirely on the device and neither sends anything anywhere.
  • Nothing in the app is sold or shared with anyone, because nothing ever reaches us in the first place.
  • There are no links out of the app and no in-app web browser.
  • There are no in-app purchases. “Sparks” are points your child earns in the app; they cannot be bought, and they have no monetary value. They are spent on real-world treats you have agreed to and hand over yourself.

Because of this, when you see Campfire's privacy information on the App Store, it should read Data Not Collected.

Deleting everything

Two ways, both complete:

  1. In the app: Family → Reset everything. This clears every child, spark, badge, memory and photograph on that device and returns the app to setup.
  2. Delete the app from your device.

Either one erases all of it. There is no undo and there is no recovery, because there is no copy anywhere else. Please be certain before you do it.

Children

Campfire is operated by a parent or carer, not by a child, and the data it holds about a child is data a parent chose to type in. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else, so there is nothing for us to disclose, sell, or delete on request — we never have it.

If you are a parent who wants a child's information removed from Campfire, you do not need to contact anyone: use Family → Reset everything, or delete the app.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change. If a future version ever introduced anything that left the device, that would be an opt-in choice explained clearly in the app first — never a silent change.
